z13s User Experience

(BB)

Stream: Large Systems
Time: 12:00 - 13:00

Presentation

Ten external customers world-wide were selected to participate in IBM's z13s Hardware Early Support Program. This provided an opportunity for those select customers to help IBM ensure the highest-quality product was delivered to the mainframe community at the time of General Availability. Come to this session to hear "Customer #3" relate their z13s Hardware ESP experience. Learn what they learned about multithreading in z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE and zLinux, the Vector Facility for z/Architecture (aka SIMD), OSA-ICC SSL support, and other new hardware features available in the latest z Systems generation of processors. Be entertained as Ed Jaffe from Phoenix Software International relates the fun he and his colleagues had participating in this program and gain valuable insights about what to expect when you upgrade to z13 GA2 or z13s.
