API’s, DB2s native REST support and z/OS Connect

Presentation

APIs power much of what we do on the web. The API Economy is changing the way companies are 'built', while REST enabling applications opens up new opportunities for existing organisations. IBM has responded to this paradigm by delivering native REST API support in Db2 for z/OS.

This presentation introduces REST and the API economy, and provides an overview of Db2's native REST support - how to create and consume REST services. It also discusses why you may need to extend Db2's capability with a REST gateway like zOS Connect.
