Ray Jones is the Vice President of z Systems and Software Sales. He has responsibility for IBM’s mainframe middleware software solutions portfolio, including sales and pricing strategies and methodologies, and overall customer relationships and satisfaction. Prior to his current position, he was a member of the core strategic team that created the modern IBM software business, called IBM Software Group, which is a major contributor to IBM's revenues and profitability. He has also served as Controller for IBM Software Group, and as Chief Financial Officer of the System i and p divisions in IBM's Systems Technology Group. His earlier experience includes IBM executive positions in development, pricing, and marketing. Ray travels extensively to meet with z Systems clients, and has advised more than 1000 leading companies on mainframe technology, total cost of ownership, and the strategic business value of mainframe solutions for driving competitive advantage. Ray joined IBM in 1975 as a sales representative in Chicago and worked on the beta test for MVS at Allstate Insurance. When he is not travelling, Ray spends time on his farm in the Boston area.
