IBM z/OS Communications Server: Shared Memory Communications
This session will provide an overview of Shared Memory Communications, including the Shared Memory Communications over RDMA (SMC-R) capability introduced in z/OS V2R1, as well as the new Shared Memory Communications-Direct Memory Access (SMC-D) technology available on the z13, z13s, and z14. SMC-D with IBM z13/z13s/z14 Internal Shared Memory (ISM) provides highly optimized intra-CPC communications. SMC-D is expected to provide substantial performance, throughput, response time, and CPU consumption benefits compared to standard TCP/IP communications over HiperSockets.
