More about application development. Focus on efficiency

Presentation

With evolution of computer and internet, we rely on the applications to complete smaller to even complex business task’s faster. Globally, there are many applications available to complete the same types of business requirement. So when a choice need is need to be made for an application to complete the requirements, performance remains one of the core factor in making the decision.  The more faster an application is, lower amount of resources are required to complete the same amount of work.

This session is primarily meant to discuss on the application development life cycle process and how and where we can achieve the efficiency during different phase of SDLC. Efficiency is language independent and it is required for all type of application.

Developing an efficient application is never possible with a single person effort but a collective effort of marketing team, management, external customers, internal customers, and yes more importantly of the development team. We will also discuss on how an individual can contribute to it.

Efficiency is also dependent on other factors including the individual efforts to interact with the system, tools and processes, good compilers availability, efficiency of operating system defined processes. Considering this factors, choice of correct environment and making application such flexible and easy to migrate or platform independent are important considerations.

Application efficiency also depend on how the user uses the application because current applications are featured in such a way that there can be multiple way to complete the same task. So making it more easy to understand is also one way to achieve efficiency.

This session also includes a small real time example on how efficiency was achieved by normal and quick thinking and why it was important to have the efficient application development.
