Zowe is an open source project that contains core content in its releases for z/OS system programmers and developers through its command line interface, its API mediation layer and its Web Desktop. All of these are extensible allowing new command line plugins to be added, new API servers, and new user interfaces. The extension could be by a software company or vendor who has an existing z/OS tool they wish to onboard to Zowe or by a customer's IT department wishing to build their own in-house customizations. This talk will cover how to extend Zowe with demos and tutorials as well discuss the Zowe conformance program and ideas in flight to create an "app-store" experience for Zowe plugins. Joe is a Senior Technical Staff Member in the IBM z Systems software group. He is a member of the Zowe open mainframe project working with customers and business partners to create an open source tooling platform for z/OS tools.
Petr Plavjanik is a Software Architect in the Mainframe division at Broadcom. He is a member of the Zowe project and working with teams that are API-enabling mainframe products and adopting Zowe CLIs. Petr’s main areas of expertise are mainframes and automation, and using modern development tools and languages such as Java, Python, and Node.js on z/OS.
