Using Self-Provisioning tools and a Cloud-Based IDE for Mainframe Development

As new traditionally non-mainframe developers start developing on the mainframe, they want to leverage tooling they are familiar with, get started quickly and easily, save off development workspaces when complete or disrupted, and develop across platforms as needed. Enterprise dictates on tools like editors does not scale. Fat clients have proven to be difficult to manage in large scale and are moving to cloud type configurations.

This session will highlight using with a demo the mainframe development cycle through a developer s tool of choice, along with details on technology that provides the flexibility, how docker packaging can bring quick access to the tools a developer might want, simplify the life of a tool administrator and how all of this can be offered in a cloud architecture.
