If you have been around a while you have seen a lot of trends come and go on the mainframe. You lived through CI/CD transitioning into DevOps, DevOps coming onto the mainframe when no one thought it could  and now you are seeing DevOps starting to transition to Platform Engineering. The question you have is what does that mean, is this just a buzz word trend or is there something different about Platform Engineering? Does Platform engineering work on the mainframe? Why are you seeing conflicting views on platform engineering when you search the term? In this talk we plan to bring some light to the darkness:

  • As a DevOps evangelist for Compuware/BMC, Tony Anter is responsible for showing customers the art of what is possible when it comes to Mainframe DevOps and DevOps in general. In 2016, Tony was given a project to bring DevOps to the Mainframe for a Fortune 100 Credit Card Company. He then spent the next 2 years migrating this companies Mainframe applications, 500+, onto a set of modern DevOps pipelines centered around Compuware tooling. Tony Lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with his wife and 3 children. In his spare time Tony likes to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, watch Steelers Football and read.
