SMF Link Diagnostics Statistics are very useful for your FICON health, but you can do more with these (and other) SMF records.
We look at a how a combination of SMF records can be used to create a FICON topology view of your important infrastructure. From the PCHIDs in your CEC, via your logical LPAR CHPIDs, thought the FICON Directors to your Disk or Tape units. A vital path that can sometimes be hard to fully visualize und understand.
There is currently no attachment for Do I really know how my FICON infrastructure is connected! SMF data can be used to help you see what you have and how it is connected.
