We would like to share our stories on how we got involved with mainframes. Although we come from different backgrounds and continents, we all share the same passion for mainframes.
Devonte’ is an Alumnus of Albany State University. He joined the IBM Z Student Ambassador program in 2020. In 2021 and 2022, he gained professional experience as an intern for IBM. Right after graduation, Devonte’ got hired by IBM as zStack Technical Specialist.
Sabine is a student of the FernUniversität in Hagen. She is an IBM Z Student Ambassador since July 2020 and a Member of the Board of the Academic Mainframe Consortium since August 2023. In 2023, she also embarked on an advocacy journey as IBM Champion.

Sabine Diemt is a part-time computer science student at the FernUniversität in Hagen, Germany (an open university). She is from Austria, and currently living and working in Bahrain. Besides aviation, computer science is her other passion. After being a software developer for a couple of years, she crossed industry lines and entered the aviation sector. Recently, during her studies, she came across the IBM Z Xplore and got very interested in the mainframe and its capabilities.
She is passionate about making science available to the broader public, by volunteering for Starmus and as an IBM Champion.
