Creating a robust long lasting career on the mainframe platform, requires special range of skills; some technical, some non-technical. Based on interviews with prominent figures at various stages in their mainframe journey, this talk will represent some of the standout skills and learning strategies that are evident from hearing the stories of those who stand out. The aim is to highlight how even the brightest stars in our community have learned and leveraged their abilities rather than simply being ‘natural born stars’ on the platform. Hopefully this exploration will provide some distilled wisdom in how to make the most of a mainframe career. {Tish Carrow}
