There are increasing business needs requiring legacy ISPF applications to be enhanced, re-purposed and generally modernized to support new standards, facilities or just to add on new features, but they often struggle with the cost of updating the back-end applications. These "business logic layers" are often big/complex, and/or written in Assembler, PL/1 or other languages that are more difficult to amend/test. This session will look at some methods to break the dead-lock, updating the ISPF panels only to add the new functionality in a way that does NOT require the back end applications to change. The business logic layer remains intact, allowing you to exploit new technologies like Action Bars, Dynamic Screen Sizes, point-n-shoot etc.
