Dr Herb Daly is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Bedfordshire. A passionate advocate for including System Z knowledge in the university curriculum, he was responsible forhis department joining the IBM Academic Initiative in February 2012. He is currently Chairman of the UKCMG, a user group for performance and capacity professionals. A recent convert to the mainframe cause, his previous roles in industry include Consultant, Software Designer,and Simulation Modelling specialist. He holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, a Masters degree in Software Engineering and Doctoral degree in Simulation Modelling. His most recently consulting work has been on succession planning and graduate retention.
Hugh is in his 34th year working with mainframes, spanning System Programming , software licensing, management, consulting, client delivery and mainframe strategy. He holds a bachelors degree in Physiology and a PhD in Neuro Pharmacology. During his years in management Hugh was very closely involved in graduate mainframe training programmes.
