A new z/OSMF application, Software Update, will guide you through SMP/E PTF APPLY operations for all of your SMP/E installed software, whether supplied by IBM or other vendors, for operating system, subsystems and middleware, and other software products. The Software Update application simplifies PTF APPLY operations by giving you several ways to organize, review, and ultimately resolve applicable HOLDDATA, interpreting SMP/E results and showing you only the bits of information you need, yet allowing you to dig down into the detailed results if necessary, all with the intent of reducing the deep SMP/E skill level required to install software fixes.
