In recent years we have seen my types of Multi-Factor process used to control access to the Mainframe. These are now well established and are protecting the mainframe from outside risks. With those risks now reduced with these processes, the next step to address the need for added protect from internal risks.
There are several enhancements that have been provided in RACF and the other ESM’s that have create a method of Multi-Factor controls to be used to reduce those internal risks. This is an indication that internal controls are needed and will be required. We will discuss some of the reasons for better internal controls beyond those current provided by the ESM’s. We will look to the future to see how we can begin using capabilities that exist today to prepare and establish better internal controls.
