VSAM’s Alive! But we only have 60 minutes to save your performance…

(3BC)

Stream: Virtual Room 3
Time: 12:00 - 13:00

Presentation

It was no Flash in the Pan… Many IT shops still love and use VSAM for its simplicity, usability and performance as a data storage/access method where fast, indexed retrieval is needed. However, it was designed many years ago on an architecture that few still remember, so the question is, does it still perform well on today’s machines, where available memory size has been a key factor in redesigning data processing techniques and performance standards?

In this session, we will review scenarios where and how performance could be significantly improved, offering serious savings opportunities. If a simple solution was available, that did not require code changes and could enhance your execution velocity with reduced overhead and much improved access, wouldn’t you want to know more?
