Presentation

Amid the global crisis, organisations today are faced with a challenge - quickly initiating digital transformations to enable remote work while keeping up with day-to-day business operations. A recent survey found approximately 70% of executives in Austria, Germany and Switzerland said the pandemic will likely accelerate their digital transformation. However, businesses aren’t necessarily equipped for fast-tracked modernisation.

More organisations are adopting new digital processes in response to increasing concerns from leadership about cost-efficiency, security and overall service optimisation - especially as many teams (IT included) now work remotely. Modernising infrastructure can help business leaders solve these challenges, but not without addressing potential implications first.

The inability to see across IT environments and grasp total costs has increased with new, pandemic-related roadblocks. In Q1 2020, spend on cloud infrastructure reached $29 billion — up 37% compared to Q1 2019. But now looking at the coming months, IT spending will be tight, and considering many modernisation costs are often hidden, leadership will need to find ways to gain control over digital transformation projects while operating smoothly – whether it’s in-office or not.

To get ahead of the pitfalls, organisations can implement application performance monitoring (APM) to manage applications end-to-end - regardless of whether they run on mainframe, distributed infrastructure and cloud. In 2019, Gartner predicted enterprises would quadruple their APM due to increasingly digital business processes from 2018-2021 to reach 20% of all business applications.

An automated APM strategy helps organisations monitor operations 24-7, analysing and reducing incidents in real-time. Leadership can then gain a comprehensive view of the business application, customer experience and any issues; to make rapid decisions based on deep insight and accurate metrics.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, 71% of security professionals noticed an increase in security threats or attacks. This number is enough to make leadership across all organisations take a second look at current environments - new or existing - to ensure servers are secure. When unexpected load hits your application or database performance, APM compliments security tools to enable early warning of application impact and to identify where the traffic is coming. The increased visibility brought on by APM tools help leaders optimize security, costs and resiliency through enhanced analytics.

In this session, Ensono Vice President of Global Product Management Oliver Presland will share industry examples, success stories and advice behind application performance monitoring amid the coronavirus and beyond.
