Mainframe Education : A GSE DACH Regional perspective

(2AR)

Stream: Virtual Room 2
Time: 10:30 - 11:30

Presentation

Discussions on best practice in the development of mainframe knowledge ecosystem are both popular and necessary at the moment. It is widely recognised that new ideas and new talent are vital to businesses with mainframes systems at their core. At the same time, preserving key skills, such as COBOL, has become an issue of international significance. The German speaking DACH region of GSE has had considerable success in developing strong relationships between industry and academia. As home to the IBM Research and Development Lab at Boeblingen, with many well known Z users and software companies, a strong ecosystem is perhaps to be expected. None the less, initiatives such as the Academic Mainframe Consortium (ACM) have served to develop the community and increase active collaboration. This talk aims to encourage successes in other regions by sharing the best examples of out work.
