Richard Lewis is an Executive I/T Specialist at the IBM Advanced Technology Group, formerly IBM Washington System Center. Richard joined IBM in 1984 and worked as a z/VM systems programmer maintaining several large internal IBM z/VM systems. For the past 31 years, Richard has been a member of the z/VM and Linux on IBM Z team as well as the team leader at the IBM Washington System Center. As a member of this team, Richard works with IBM customers and IBM Field Technical Specialists, providing instruction on z/VM and Linux on IBM Z as well as assisting with solution design and resolution of technical problems. In addition, Richard works closely with z/VM development as well as Linux on IBM Z development. Richard has been working with Linux on IBM Z since the original s/390 port, and was a member of the team that implemented the Linux Community Development System in support of independent Open Source Developers of Linux software. The LCDS opened in May of 2001 as a mainframe on the open Internet providing Linux on IBM Z instances for open source developers. This system has largely been replaced with the IBM LinuxONE Community Cloud. Richard has been an IBM Rep to the z/VM, Linux and Virtualization Program within SHARE for the past 25 years. He has been the lead IBM Rep to that program for the past 12 years.
