(3AI)

Stream: Virtual Room 3
Time: 12:00 - 13:00

Presentation

Reduce costs, foster innovation and increase agility are imperative for digital transformation. Enterprises are increasing hybrid workloads deployment and in this context packaging software as a container image is a best practice.

zOS Container Extension allows to take advantage of zOS strengths such as Security, Disaster Recovery, High Availability and permits to deploy on the same zOS environment zOS applications and Software on Z Linux Container, without the need to deploy a separate Linux Server.

Let’s explore how you can create a zCX instance and deploy the IBM Workload Automation containers, i.e. the DWC and the zCentric agent, on a z/OS system.

  • Marco Cardelli, HCL Products & Platforms - Marco Cardelli is currently part of the Workload Automation Offering Manager team with special focus on the z/OS product. Marco has been working with IBM since 1990 and on IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS since 1995. He started on IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS as a L3 support specialist and then joined the development team as Chief Designer starting with IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS 8.3. During the years spent in the development team Marco has been working on the design and the implementation of many features of IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS, such as, Workload Service Assurance, zCentric end-to-end, Run Cycle groups and Remote Hot Standby. In 2015 he became Architect of the IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS product. In September 2016, as part of the new partnership agreement between IBM and HCL, he moved to the new HCL Products & Platforms division. Since January 2017 he left the development team and joined the Workload Automation Offering team especially focused on the mainframe product. Marco has a degree in mathematics and enjoys playing guitar with his band in his free time.
