Comparing MQ and Kafka

(CN)

Stream: Chapel
Time: 11:45 - 12:45

Presentation

Apache Kafka is designed for event streaming, IBM MQ is designed for messaging. At one level they complement each other well, and should be used together, but at another level, what they offer starts to overlap.

So which do I use? We can't answer that, it will depend on your applications' needs. Instead we’ll dig deeper into each design to help you make the right choice and understand where you may need to utilize both. We’ll highlight the many differences (and similarities) in behaviour that you will need to be aware of. You'll see how these can affect how applications behave and perform under pressure, often needing to be designed into the application itself.
