IBM z16 – What’s under the covers?

The IBM Z platform is recognized for its long-standing commitment to delivering best-of-breed security, resiliency, performance, and scalability. IBM Z is relied on for mission-critical

workloads and as an essential element of hybrid cloud infrastructures.

 

The newest member of the IBM z family, IBM z16, continues that commitment and adds more value with innovative technologies that can help accelerate the digital transformation journey.

 

The IBM z16 is the first IBM Z system built with the IBM Telum processor.

 

This session focuses on “what’s new” in the z16. We will review the new multi-chip fabric, new cache hierarchy, model structure, memory offerings and the latest additions to z/Architecture, including the embedded IBM integrated accelerator for AI. Gain insight into the physical structure of the z16 including the I/O Sub-system, Security, performance, and Operating System support.

  • Parwez Hamid at Independent Consultant
  • Parwez Hamid was an Executive IT Consultant with the IBM Server and Technology Group and a Technical Staff member of the IBM UK Technical Council. Since 1974, Parwez worked in various IT roles within IBM. He worked with many IBM mainframe clients, mainly introducing new technology. as a Consultant for System z in IBM Poughkeepsie and provided Technical Support for the IBM System z hardware product portfolio. Parwez co-authored ITSO Redbooks publications and he prepared technical material for the worldwide announcement of System Z. Parwez worked with System z product development in Poughkeepsie and provided input and feedback for future product plans. Parwez taught and presented at numerous IBM user group and internal conferences. He was an instructor for the ITSO Worldwide Workshops. Since retirement, Parwez has continued to take interest in System z and still presents at external events.
