In 2015 with cooperation with IBM and Barclays bank Mainframe subject was included into study program of Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Vilnius University. This was driven by the business as it saw a need of talent pull that would have at least some experience with Mainframe. Since then more than 250 students took that course and some of them started their careers in mainframe in such companies as Danske Bank, Swed Bank, SEB Bank, HCL Technologies, Rocket Software, Barclays, etc. In terms of the mainframe subject, cooperation with the business first started with Barclays Bank, after some years cooperation included HCL Technologies, and at the moment run in cooperation with Rocket software and IBM. In my presentation I will share the story on how this subject did evolved. I will share a lessons learned and future plans for it.
