Presentation

Want to access cloud objects from your z/OS COBOL, LE C, or Assembler programs?
The DFSMSdfp CDA component provides APIs to access Cloud Objects from S3 providers, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and others.
With the same API call, you can retrieve cloud objects from any of the supported provider types without having to worry about how to authenticate as well as how to store the cloud credentials.
This session will go in-depth on the APIs, and the methods to call them, illustrating how easy it is to access the new tier of z/OS storage that is Cloud Object Storage.

  • Andrew Wilt is a Senior Software Engineer at IBM in the z/OS DFSMS development organization. Over his career, he has worked in DFSMSdss as the product owner, and worked with the z/OSMF, Language Environment, and System XML teams. Later, he designed the DFSMShsm Transparent Cloud Tiering support, and more recently made good on a long-standing requirement for DFSMShsm to support backup and recover of z/OS UNIX files. Most recently, he added a new base component to DFSMS called DFSMSdfp CDA for Cloud Data Access, which adds Access Method capabilities for z/OS applications to access Cloud Object data as easily as reading or writing tape or disk data.
