Zowe is at the moment undoubtedly the most popular mainframe Open-Source solution and it keeps improving with a new release every 2 months that add new capabilities like Explorer for Intellij, Jenkins plugin, client SDKs (Python, Kotlin) as well as improving the time to value through a simplified multi sysplex handling, integration with the distributed identity provider, the new Configuration Manager for an easier configuration.

Domenico D’Alterio is the IBM Principal Product Manager focused on The Linux Foundation's ZoweTM and IBM Z distribution for Zowe projects. He contributes to the open-source project strategy and direction as well as market success of IBM Z distribution for Zowe. Thanks to his passion in sharing his knowledge about open source projects, especially Zowe, Domenico was nominated Open Mainframe Project ambassador in March 2023.
In addition to Zowe, Domenico takes care of the IBM Z AIOps integration scenarios strategy with the objective to define cross products integrations that reduce the Mean Time To Resolution (MTTR) of IT problems.
Prior to his current role, Domenico was the Product Manager for offerings in the IBM Z AIOps area working on the strategic directions of multiple offerings on different domains like scheduling, system automation, performance and capacity planning, analytics and so on In the previous years, he covered different managerial positions in IBM Development and Customer support organization. Domenico joined IBM in 1999. Starting as designer, moved to a managerial role in 2006, acting as Development and Customer Support manager in the former Tivoli division of IBM. He graduated in Electronic Engineering, in Italy.
A long-term enthusiast who is interested in building more secure solutions. Currently working as Zowe TSC chair and an engineer of the API Mediation Layer. Previously working in the Space-related business, collaborating with NASA and ESA as Gisat's Head of Application development.
