Stream: New Technologies
Time: 16:00 - 17:00
The NIST publications for establishing a Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) can be overwhelming but the basic concept of creating a ZTA is based upon common-sense steps and practices that can be applied to the most critical controls for z/OS. Remember you are dealing with people. In the primary part of this overall session, we will discuss a practical approach to creating and providing the two basic elements required in a ZTA, the Policy Decision Point (PDP) and the Policy Enforcement Point (PEP).
A very "quick dive" will be taken with machine identities where we need to know of potential critical vulnerabilities in SSL/TLS Connections to server end-points, all end-points, across the entire z/Fabric.
“Bad Actors” are out there using whatever means necessary to upset the status quo.
Michael FitzGerald, Fitz Software & Co.
Mike began on the IBM mainframe in Germany in the 1980s with major software houses specialising in migration projects across multiple mainframe platforms (VM, VSE, MVS, BS1000, BS2000). Projects planning encompassed all aspects of the computer centre - hardware, OS, system software, applications software, personnel, etc. Fitz Software was formed in Ireland in early 1990s and introduces niche z/OS products throughout EMEA. Part of their portfolio, with appropriate background and skills to his presentations, includes the product ICE (Integrity Controls Environment) and its ICE-Direct web-application.
