Z Open Automation Utilities (ZOAU) has dramatically changed the way we can manage z/OS hosts. Let’s get acquainted with ZOAU and learn how leveraging ZOAU commands can help systems programmers with an affinity for Unix-like systems be immediately productive in a z/OS environment. Come learn the basics of ZOAU, how to get running with it quickly, a variety of helpful commands (with examples), and why it’s changed my approach to z/OS management after 10 years of green-screen.
Steven Perva is a mainframe professional and lifelong technologist based in Chicago, Illinois. He has been working in mainframe technology since 2010 and distributed technology since 2005. He currently serves as a Senior Mainframe Innovation Engineer for Ensono. An IBM Champion for IBM Z, Steven has presented at major industry conferences such as SHARE, IBM z16 Day, and IBM's TechU on topics of cross-generational collaboration in mainframe technology as well as a variety of mainframe modernization topics. When not working, he is spending time with his family in Chicago, working on building the family house, travelling, or working on video games.
