First we cover “Modernizing applications on z/OS, and why Java”, then look at how to “Achieve interoperability with CICS”. Next we will provide a deep dive into what’s new in Java in CICS TS V6.1, followed by a tour of the recent Java Developer Experience functionality including JCICSX, and the CICS Bundle Maven and Gradle Plugins.

Phil Wakelin is a member of the CICS strategy and design team at IBM UK in Hursley and currently works with CICS Java customers to help them transition into the world of Java on z/OS. He was the development Hill lead for the CICS TS V5.3 Liberty development team and now works with the modern languages team to support customers adopting Java in CICS. He is a Master Inventor and a prolific author having worked on over 20 IBM Redbooks, numerous white papers, blogs Support Pacs and Git repos.
