This session aims to provide a technical overview of storage for z/OS for someone who has a knowledge of the platform but is not a storage specialist. It will include information on DFSMS, backup and archive storage usage, replication for HA and DR and will aim to put many historical capabilities in the context of where we are now in the 21st Century.

Nick is a STSM in the IBM Systems Division focussing on Enterprise Storage and storage integration with IBM server platforms. He also works with a number of clients on their storage strategy and advising them on their deployment of IBM storage technology. He is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and is the author of several whitepapers and redbooks in the area of enterprise storage and resilience solutions. He is regarded as one of the world experts in IBM storage technology and holds a number of patents in these areas. Nick graduated from Trinity College Cambridge in 1994 with a degree in Mathematics and has previously worked both outside IBM and in the IBM services organisation in the areas of parallel sysplex, performance and enterprise storage.
