Presentation

This session aims to provide a technical overview of storage performance on z/OS for someone who has knowledge of the platform but is not a performance or storage specialist. It will also discuss a range of unique functionality and architecture enhancements that have been implemented for CKD storage and z/OS to improve storage performance. This will include items such as zHPF, PAV and HyperPAV, zHyperlink etc.

  • Nick Clayton at IBM UK LTD.
  • Nick is a STSM in the IBM Systems Division focussing on Enterprise Storage and storage integration with IBM server platforms. He also works with a number of clients on their storage strategy and advising them on their deployment of IBM storage technology. He is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and is the author of several whitepapers and redbooks in the area of enterprise storage and resilience solutions. He is regarded as one of the world experts in IBM storage technology and holds a number of patents in these areas. Nick graduated from Trinity College Cambridge in 1994 with a degree in Mathematics and has previously worked both outside IBM and in the IBM services organisation in the areas of parallel sysplex, performance and enterprise storage.
