Modernizing z/OS Source Control and Build Without JCL - A User Experience

(AP)

Stream: Virtual Room 10
Time: 14:00 - 15:00

Presentation

This is our (Dynatrace) experience moving from a zOS based source control to Git and Bitbucket.
We would like to share how we build ASM, C, and COBOL using Make and USS utilities without JCL, and integrate with Jenkins build pipeline.
Automate build artifacts by running Curl on USS to upload to Artifactory server.
This will be a high-level overview of what we did, problems we encountered, and what it looks like in production.

  • I am a Sr Product Developer for Dynatrace LLC.  I have been working on IBM mainframes for over 35 years.  I mostly write assembler code for systems level tools and products like CICS.  Recently I have taken on side projects to "modernize" our development and installation processes.
