Db2 can support high volumes of transactions by design, but why do we struggle with deadlocks or reports of applications hanging? And where else can I look to help to fix that?
As a new DBA, you must be familiar with concurrency since it’ll be a very common topic for you. In this presentation we will cover the a few concepts related to concurrency within Db2 to answer the following questions:
- Why can applications hang and how to tell when this really is happening?
- What can we do on several levels?
- How far can I get and where does my help stop?
- What other roles are involved in this issue and who can help?
And perhaps more importantly, what other actions have to do with concurrency? And at this point we’ll see some real life stories with lessons learned.
This is a presentation for beginner and intermediate audiences, having concurrency as one of the most frequent topics for an early DBA in formation.
