There are many reasons affecting the version of Db2 your organization uses, such as time to migrate, what features/functions drive your implementation – even cost. One thing does tend to remain true. Many enterprises are making scant use of some of the basic Db2 capabilities introduced both in previous versions and in newer releases. Bob Bersano began his career as a mainframe software developer back in 1986 and has worked with IBM Db2 since version 2.1. Bob has designed and developed many different enterprise Db2 tools handling data migration, log analysis, security and backup and recovery. Bob joined Rocket Software in 1995 as a Senior Software developer to design and code a new database backup and recovery product that would exploit fast replication technology. Bob is currently a Senior Solutions Advisor, working with Db2 customers worldwide. He is based in Chicago and is a graduate of the University of St. Francis with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
