As a minority in the tech industry, I have encountered several challenges throughout my journey that has shaped me to become the engineer that I am today. Being eager and open minded has allowed me to standout and provide value in a demanding work environment. I will share my experiences, motivations, plateaus, and career advice I have received that can be helpful to anyone in their early career. I will also share some tips on how to push yourself out of your comfort zone, and most importantly what to do to stay on top of your game. These are points that anyone entering a professional work environment can apply to advance and succeed in their career. This is a session you don't want to miss!
Megan Hampton is a Backend Developer and Iteration Manager for the IBM Z Deep Learning Compiler (zDLC). Her job consists of writing lower level compiler code in C/ C++ for the IBM and Open Source Community. In addition to development, Megan is also leading a service team for the newly appointed AI ToolKit which provides a plethora of support for AI products on Z. Megan has her Bachelor's Degree from NYU Tandon School of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and her Master's Degree from Marist College in Computer Science. In her free time, Megan loves to volunteer, dance, read, travel and run!
