Hybrid cloud strategies are driving massive innovation and change within the mainframe space currently. Many approaches are very dependent on hardware platform or rely on continuing to use traditional storage concepts to minimize the amount of change to the environment.
A fresh approach is to accept that true innovation allows you to build a robust strategy from the ground up that eliminates complex storage concepts which make it difficult to support mainframe storage environments with less than uber-experienced people. This strategy will also deliver scalable performance that allows you to choose the best storage and service provider for your organization.
Tim Ceradsky is a director with Value and Solution Engineering focused on Automated Mainframe Intelligence capabilities. He leads a team of subject matter experts in many aspects of advanced automation and mainframe tooling to deliver true mainframe DevOps automation projects for enterprises including now hybrid cloud storage for the mainframe. He has been driving DevOps conversations with mainframe clients since joining BMC (then Compuware) in July 2014 and led one of the first DevOps conferences targeted for mainframe companies in January 2015. He serves on the advisory board for the Missouri State University Computer Science department, develops AR/VR applications and expert systems for “fun”, and drives a Jeep Wrangler over large rocks on the weekends to get away. The lessons learned from practical, real-world experience are translated into BMC Test Drive experiences, where Tim's team has taken BMC tools, paired them with best of class automation frameworks such as Jenkins to create working automation toolchains that potential clients can access for themselves. Built from the ground up in an iterative, agile scrum fashion, the Test Drive evolves continuously and delivers immediate value to clients that need to see how automating manual processes actually works.
