Mainframes at Risk – Top security threats and what to do

(OS)

Stream: Security
Time: 10:00 - 10:45

Presentation

With GPT now writing encryption programs for z/OS, times have definitely changed. Interconnected mainframes are no longer isolated from an attack anywhere in the network. Ransomware, malicious insiders, data exfiltration, malware are all threats. But the most insidious attack is simple - run an AI generated malicious encryption program. In seconds your mainframe will be dead in the water. And it doesn't even need to be authorized. We'll discuss other attack vectors, like authorization escalation, which can then bypass RACF or turn off SMF and how to eliminate those risks as well.

This session will expose latent problems and but it will also provide modern ways to fight back. Instantaneous detection, outright attack prevention and advanced recovery techniques all provide critical elements to improve cyber resiliency on the mainframe. See how you can prevent, and react with more precision, to reduce potential damage by orders of magnitude.
