In the past our CICS upgrades were done using thick and complicated runbooks. Using these runbooks took a lot of time and had a high risk for human mistakes. Around six years ago one of our senior system programmers decided that it was time to automate this process. At the time z/OS management Facility had the features best suiting our requirements and it was decided to use that for our automated upgrades. This presentation will start off with a brief introduction on how z/OSMF works and after that explain how we designed our automated upgrades. At the end I will give some tips for people who want to experiment with z/OSMF themselves.
