CICS TS on IBM Z XPlore

(II)

Stream: Mainframe Skills & Learning
Time: 14:15 - 15:00

Presentation

Description

IBM Z XPlore is a continuously available learning environment, which has made it possible to invest the time and resources to address the need.
We have introduced personal CICS regions (for *qualified members), making it possible to create and run applications, and experiment with the latest CICS capabilities and features.
This session will introduce the facilities of a personal CICS Transaction Server V6.2 region, making it possible to learn how to

• Operate a CICS master terminal
• Use CICS-supplied transaction to interact directly with CICS service
• Build, deploy and run different styles of transactions
• Experiment with BMS, VSAM and Db2
• Learn how to manage CICS using VSCode, ZOWE and the CICS extension

As with all the IBM Z XPlore learning channels, the emphasis in the CICS challenges is on self-paced experiential learning – learn the basics, apply what you learn to similar activities, apply broader learning to more complex problems. All the while working with the community of like-minded learners to grow and share your expertise.
