We will share our experience from teaching students Mainframe and COBOL what we have seen regarding how youngsters and other newbies feel about ISPF. The assumption is that most of the new COBOLers prefer IDEs like VSCode and others, but that is not the whole truth.
Most of our students actually prefer ISPF! They love getting their hands dirty in the old black hole. Why is that? And why is that a good thing? We will tell you!
