Many organizations are automating and running lots of tests, but never actually testing their applications. More importantly, they are not testing the changes they are introducing to their applications. The act of testing is no good unless we are running the ‘right’ tests against the ‘right’ parts of my application. Many developers are not making use of the capabilities they have available to them to verify that they are testing the change to trigger valid test case conditions. Using code coverage capabilities, you can easily verify and make sure you are running the right tests. In this interactive session we will review:
• What is code coverage and how does it work
• Verifying my changes
• Should I make that a part of my pipeline, my local development or both
• What are some techniques to get the most out of my Code Coverage metrics

As a DevOps evangelist for Compuware/BMC, Tony Anter is responsible for showing customers the art of what is possible when it comes to Mainframe DevOps and DevOps in general. Tony has over 20 years’ experience in IT as an individual contributor, people leader and architect. In 2016, Tony was given a project to bring DevOps to the Mainframe for a Fortune 100 Credit Card Company. He then spent the next 2 years migrating this companies Mainframe applications, 500+, onto a set of modern DevOps pipelines centered around Compuware tooling.
