Yes, Asynchronous System Managed Duplexing of the Db2 lock structure provides availability and performance! Data sharing clients with specific configurations are exploiting this feature; perhaps your organization can, too. The primary use case for asynchronous duplexing is an ICF only configuration when the lock structure and one Db2 member are on the same system. Another use case is shorter elapsed time for lock structure rebuild scenarios, whether planned or unplanned. This session explains the value of system managed duplexing (SMD), distinguishes synchronous SMD from asynchronous SMD, and pays particular attention to customer performance results with asynchronous SMD.
Mark Rader is a Db2 for z/OS specialist in the IBM Z Washington Systems Center. He has 40 years of technical experience with IBM, and over 35 years with Db2 for z/OS. He has led many Db2 data sharing implementations and has presented a variety of topics at conferences, including IDUG, SHARE, IBM Technical University, GSE UK, and at regional Db2 user group meetings. He has worked closely with Db2 development in delivering the Early Support Programs for Db2 10, Db2 11, and Db2 12.
