CICS Interdependency Analyzer in Devops

(5O)

Stream: Virtual Room 5
Time: 12:00 - 13:00

Presentation

CICS Interdependency Analyzer (aka CICS IA for z/OS) is a runtime tool for use with CICS Transaction Server for z/OS, that can be used to collect data related to transaction affinity, resource dependency and command flow

CICS IA plugin for CICS Explorer is an intuitive front end to visualize and explore the collected data.

CICS IA runs on the mainframe and collects data about several aspect of the CICS applications, which includes (but not limited to):
a.    Thread safety
b.    Affinity
c.    Command flow
d.    Load modules
e.    C-sects

and then uses the collected data to produce reports which can be used by the users to

•    Compare applications and resources across regions and platforms
•    Optimization of CICS regions
•    Modernization of applications

In this presentation we will look at how CICS IA can be used to automatically generate reports related to diff aspects of a CICS application in the Devops pipeline, which can then be used to determine next action. We will include a short demo of the capabilities as an introduction and then explain the usage of the product for Devops.
