Stream: Virtual Room 10
Time: 15:00 - 16:00
Traditionally, SMP/E has been the cornerstone of software management practices. However, a shift has occurred with mainframe vendors coming together to advocate for a z/OSMF-based method, introducing the use of Portable Software Instances (PSWI), Workflows, and Software Update features. These strategies are effective for managing software on a limited number of LPARs that are either hosted on a single physical machine or situated within a sysplex. Yet, for enterprises tasked with overseeing hundreds of LPARs, the deployment of new software or the application of the latest updates becomes a complex, time-intensive, and often exasperating challenge. Our session aims to showcase an automated solution designed specifically for clients seeking to address this issue. This solution leverages the Zowe CLI, Ansible, and z/OSMF to streamline and simplify software management across extensive LPAR environments. And unlike last time, the session will contain more examples and real use cases.
