Stream: Virtual Room 2
Time: 16:30 - 17:30
Since its launch 5 years ago Zowe has grown in popularity to open up mainframe computing to non-mainframers. Folks who are used to writing commands at a Windows or Linux terminal can now access mainframe services seamlessly without having to log onto a green screen 3270 terminal. Developers and operators who are used to Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ or PieCharm can access mainframe jobs and files to perform daily tasks. Users at a web browser on their PC or tablet can log into a graphical mainframe panel to get access without needing to download a terminal emulator. All of these form factors make the mainframe platform one that is more familiar and welcoming to folks who haven’t grown up with the platform.
This talk will show how to perform basic mainframe tasks using Zowe, as well as talk about how anyone and everyone can get started to become a Zoweian as a user, contributor or committer.
