Stream: IMS
Time: 15:15 - 16:00
June 2025, saw the announcement of IMS 15.6, making the transition to IMS managed ACBs (mACBs) no longer an option but a requirement to even start-up IMS. Making the IMS Catalog the central hub for all IMS application metadata, fundamentally changed how organizations create, manage and deploy changes to their IMS applications using DDL. But although your IMS systems may well be on the way to having mACBs successfully installed and deployed, what do the developers working with those IMS systems know about all of this? Do they currently use DDL to change DBDs and ACBs? Are they aware of the options and alternatives to execute DDL available to them? Have they reviewed and updated the development lifecycle to allow them run using just DDL? Have they looking into the possible changes required for applications currently running in IMS? This presentation will look at the impact advantages of adopting DDL and the requirement for mACBs will have on the everyday life of an IMS developer. The utilities and tooling available to create and change DBDs and PSBs using DDL. The wider considerations and changes to the development lifecycle switching to using DDL and running with mACBs may bring. You may be ready, but are they?
