Presentation

GitHub Copilot, IBM's WatsonX Code Assistant and other AI tools like it have fundamentally changed the developer experience by providing tactical, line-by-line coding assistance that increases individual productivity. These AI coding assistants excel at generating and suggesting code, completing functions, and helping developers navigate technical challenges. However, development managers—tasked with strategic decision-making about resource allocation, quality assurance, and technical direction—remain without equivalent AI support for their higher-level responsibilities. This critical gap exists because development managers require a fundamentally different type of intelligence. Managers need strategic insights about application complexity, team performance patterns, and delivery optimization. They need to understand not just what code is being written, but how their teams are working, where bottlenecks exist, and what architectural decisions will have the greatest business impact. This presentation will demonstrate: • Practical approaches to implementing AI technology and telemetry data • How combining Gen AI application analysis with development telemetry data can create a "strategic management layer" • How this data will create Executive insights to address strategic decisions making
