The mainframe environment has been around for more than 50 years. If you are new to this world of computing and baffled by the daily usage of Acronyms like zOS, MVS, Db2, CICS, VTAM, TCB, SRB, RACF, ISPF, TSO, SDSF, IMS, and hundreds more. A place where programmers and engineers are referred to as Dinosaurs because the technology is so....mature. Then come get some guidance and perspective from an old Dinosaur. I will be sharing my experience in knowing what is important and how to succeed in this great industry into the future.

John O'Dowd has over 30 years of experience in z/OS mainframe environments. He has been developing software products as a Lead Product Developer for BMC Software for 25 years. He is currently the Product Line Manager for the IMS Systems Administration products. John enjoys learning new technologies and mentoring the next generation of developers. He lives and works in Houston, Texas.
