Since PopUp was founded 4 years ago, we have been on quite a journey: from getting to grips with ZD&T and building the first PopUp, to developing PopUp utilities and applications on z/OS and Linux, to industrialising the rollout of new PopUps and optimising our development lab, to building the first PopUp on Z! We want to share with you some of the successes we have had on this journey towards becoming a slick, well-oiled mainframe shop, and some of our hurdles too. We will cover: • A day in the life of a PopUp developer - how one of the PopUp team uses their own PopUp as a sandbox for independent dev and testing • How we have embraced github for code and config management • Using a binary store to manage artefacts (including volumes) • Deployment pipelines which automatically build and unit test code changes • Collaboration techniques which have helped us • Open source tools we use in the lab
