Title: The Power of the Mainframe Open Education for New Mainframers For students and early-career professionals entering the world of enterprise computing, especially within the mainframe ecosystem, following your passion, staying curious and having access to the right resources can be transformational. The Mainframe Open Education (MOE) project, one of 13 initiatives under the Open Mainframe Project (OMP), exists to support this journey through a unique, community-driven approach to education. At the heart of the initiative is the MOE Gitbook a living, open-source repository of curated educational resources designed to spark curiosity, enhance adaptability, and support lifelong learning in a rapidly evolving technology landscape. The Gitbook not only provides accessible learning content for beginners but also fosters a sense of global collaboration and shared purpose. What sets MOE apart is its emphasis on community engagement. Through open-sourcing learning roadmaps and encouraging shared contributions, MOE helps new mainframers accelerate their growth, build career confidence, and transition from novice to professional. At the same time, the platform enables educators and hiring managers to access structured learning plans and co-create content tailored to real-world needs. This session will highlight: - The wide range of free resources available in the MOE Gitbook - How learners can engage, earn digital badges, and grow their skills - The role of community in shaping and sustaining the future of mainframe education - How you can contribute your own learning journey, feedback, or tutorials to help others. Whether you're just starting or looking to give back, the MOE Gitbook is more than a resource; it’s a launchpad and a collaborative space where your voice matters. We warmly invite you to explore, participate, and contribute. Your insights and experiences can help make mainframe education more accessible, diverse, and future-ready for learners around the world
