Stream: New Technologies
Time: 16:30 - 17:15
As hybrid cloud strategies mature, enterprises are under increasing pressure to modernize their infrastructure management practices without compromising the reliability, security, and performance of their IBM Z environments. While cloud-native platforms have embraced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation, mainframe operations still include manual processes and require specialized skills. This session presents a transformative approach: integrating Terraform and Ansible to deliver end-to-end automation across z/OS, Linux, and x86 and cloud environments. This session is designed for senior technical leaders, platform engineers, and IT decision-makers seeking to modernize infrastructure operations while leveraging their eisting mainframe investments. Whether your goal is to simplify platform automation, enable DevOps for Z, or integrate mainframe systems into enterprise-wide CI/CD pipelines, this discussion will provide actionable insights and a clear roadmap for success. We will explore how Terraform and Ansible enable a unified infrastructure lifecycle management model that spans Day 0 provisioning through Day N operations. Attendees will learn how Terraform can be used to define and provision LPARs, configure FICON and OSA networks, and orchestrate infrastructure across platforms using a consistent, declarative model. Ansible complements this by automating configuration, patching, compliance, and operational tasks—leveraging Red Hat Certified Content for IBM Z to reduce the need for specialized skills and accelerate time-to-value.
